In old Athens there was Democracy, but only the "citizens" where the ones who really had the right to make an impact, had their claims heard, had opportunity to influence collective decisions, where taken into account, and yes: they used to vote???.at the end of the day.
They used to represent themselves on the goverment issues that affected them. Now we just vote, for somebody who is supossed to represent us.
We are living in a Athens-type democracy. There is a small group of people who are really "the citizens", the rest of us lives under the illusion of democracy. A very sophisticated one: but illusion at the end of the day.
